Mobil not exactly shining on Philly
Mobil Travel Guide is out with its four- and five-star restaurants, hotels and spas, and Philly is not well-represented.
The Mobil Travel Guide, which doles out four- and five-star ratings to hotels, restaurants and spas, just released its 2009 list.
The only Philly four-star hotel is the Four Seasons, as usual.
The only Philly four-star restaurants are repeats: the Fountain at the Four Seasons and Lacroix at the Rittenhouse. Striped Bass, which gave way to Butcher & Singer, was on last year's list. Brasserie Perrier, which closed New Year's Eve, got four stars on the 2006 list.
Pennsylvania's only five-star restaurant is Lautrec at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in western Pennsylvania. Le Bec-Fin was Pennsylvania's only five-star restaurant last year, but Georges Perrier relinquished the award when he changed concept.
Pennsylvania's four-star lodgings for 2009, besides the Four Seasons, are Falling Rock in Farmington; the Hotel Hershey in Hershey; and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, Farmington. The state's only four-star spa is at Nemacolin Woodlands.
Delaware may have tax-free shopping and liberal corporate laws and New Jersey may have nice beaches and lots of highways, but neither has any four- or five-star properties.
