MilkBoy branches out to South Street

Partners Bill Hanson, Tommy Joyner, and Jamie Lokoff have taken the building that for decades was known as Lickety Split before it lost its way and closed last year.

MilkBoy, the restaurant/bar/live music venue that opened at 11th and Chestnut Streets in 2011, now has a spinoff at Fourth and South Streets.

Like the original, the new MilkBoy has glass garage-style doors, which open its 12-seat first-floor bar to South Street, across from Jim's Steaks. There is table service and a separate entrance for takeout orders. Outdoor seating will be added later.

MilkBoy's second-floor bar seats 24 and has tables that can be flipped down to allow more standing room when needed.  The music will help reverse the tide on South Street, which once boasted music bars including the Ripley and J.C. Dobbs.

Chef Chris Beyer, a musician and a Garces alumnus, oversees both kitchens. Besides cocktails, the bar has six draft lines of Pennsylvanian beer, plus cans.
