Le Cheri and Butcher & Singer rated tops for power lunch

Elit vodka hired Bloomberg Custom Content to curate the list.

Where is the city's power lunch scene?

Stolichnaya's elit vodka hired Bloomberg Custom Content to generate what it calls the Power Table Index.

Essentially, Bloomberg looked at cities with thriving business communities, and culled a list curated from an analysis of search, reviews and reservations from Bloomberg users in those cities, or who travel to those cities often for business. Clearly, restaurants that sell elit were in the mix.

Butcher & Singer, the steakhouse at 15th and Walnut Streets, and Le Cheri, the French destination in the Art Alliance off Rittenhouse Square, made the list.

Of Butcher & Singer, the report says:

"As you enter the dining room of this Old Hollywood-themed steakhouse, look for the large copper bull's head on the wall adjacent to the kitchen. Under it is the four-top Table 45—power central. From two of its seats "you can see who comes in and out through the front door, you can be in contact with the manager and chef as they walk into the room, and if you want to shake hands and see and be seen, it's the best spot in the house," says former GM David McCabe, now the Director of Restaurants for owner STARR Restaurants. Power lunchers in recent years are eating lighter and "have become better drinkers," says McCabe. "Their vodka martini has more vermouth, and more good vermouth, so we see the back bar at our restaurant getting better and better."

Of Le Cheri:

"A former mansion (built in 1906) near Rittenhouse Square houses Philly's hottest French bistro. For a private business lunch, you'll want to score the diamond-shaped Table 24. It's in the secondary dining room where you'll have plenty of peace and quiet, says owner Charlotte Calmels. For a more convivial session, request Table 14 in the front dining room. "You're right by the window overseeing the garden, and you see everybody coming in and coming out," she says. Two caveats: The eatery is open for lunch only Wednesday through Saturday, and you can't reserve a specific table. Power lunchers—many who are lawyers from nearby firms—go crazy for the Georges Perrier crab cakes, with the recipe courtesy of the noted Philly-chef's late and lamented Le Bec-Fin."

They join such spots as ABC Kitchen and The Nomad Restaurant in New York; Bottega Louie in L.A. and Bouchon in Beverly Hills; Knife and R+D Kitchen in Dallas; Nico Osteria in Chicago, and Charlie Palmer Steak DC and Fiola in Washington, D.C.
