Kanella South getting closer, hosts job fair
The Greek/Cypriot restaurant, now with a bar, is about a month away.
Chef Konstantinos Pitsillides is just under a month from opening Kanella South, the relocation of his Cypriot/Greek restaurant, at 757 S. Front St.
A year in the making, this incarnation of Kanella - filling the former Village Belle/Frederick's space in Queen Village - will feature not only a larger dining room and outdoor dining, but a full bar.
Pitsillides, working with his wife, Caroline, will cook in two kitchens - including an open one at the edge of the dining room that boasts a wood oven and a charcoal grill topped with a rotisserie.
City inspections are complete, the thousands of odds and ends required before opening are being finished.
Now he needs staff, both front and back of the house. He is hosting a job fair Tuesday, July 14 from 5 to 7 p.m.; Wednesday, July 15 from noon to 2 p.m.; and Thursday, July 16, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, Pitsillides is not sure of what will happen to his former spot, at 10th and Spruce Streets. One option is to lease it to another restaurateur; his other choice would be to create a new restaurant there.
