Inside Manayunk's Taqueria Feliz

Manayunk cooks once again as Brian Sirhal and chef Tim Spinner unlock the doors of their third bar-restaurant, Taqueria Feliz, on Thursday, Oct. 17 - more than a year after signing the lease. (Part of the delay were woes in obtaining the liquor license, they say.)

This Main Street location is almost smack midpoint in their empire: Cantina Feliz in Fort Washington and La Calaca Feliz in Fairmount.

The former Mainly Shoes store at 4410 Main St. - last occupied by a fortune teller who probably knew that her lease was ending - was stripped down to the bare walls.

Executive chef Lucio Palazzo will riff on taqueria dishes - tacos, enchiladas, tortas and entrees, including slow-roasted lamb barbacoa, red snapper enchipotlado, tempura-battered fish tacos and carnitas tacos.

I have not yet seen the final menu, but they're touting moderate prices (entrees under $20).

It will be dinner only at the start; lunch will begin in November.
