Fairmount shuffle: Isabel closes, Trio to move in

Owners Michael Poole and Van Chau are moving their Fairmount BYOB, the Thai-inspired Trio, from the corner of Brown and Taney Streets into the ex-Isabel space, also known as 2601 Parkway.

Isabel, the Art Museum-area Mexi-Cali BYOB (2601 Pennsylvania Ave.), closed May 15, just shy of five years, but the space won't be dark for too long.

Owners Michael Poole and Van Chau are moving their second Fairmount BYOB, the Thai-inspired Trio, from the corner of Brown and Taney Streets into the ex-Isabel space, also known as 2601 Parkway.

In a note to customers, the partners said 2624 Brown St. "in reality ... is too much restaurant for what we actually require and the rent and utilities made maintaining a profit a significant challenge."

Trio's last night on Brown Street will be Sunday, May 29.

On Wednesday, June 1, the new iteration of Trio opens at 2601. It will have essentially the same menu as Trio, though some Isabel/Mexican-inspired specials will be phased in, Poole said.
