Bake-Off finalists announced; Pa. shut out

Chocolate Doughnut Poppers, Peanutty Pie Crust Clusters, Cuban-Style Sandwich Pockets and Creamy Corn-Filled Sweet Peppers will move on for a chance at $1 million.

The four finalists in the 47th Pillsbury Bake-Off contest were named in Nashville.

Alas, none is from Pennsylvania.

The four are (plus my impressions):

Amazing Doable Dinners: Cuban-Style Sandwich Pockets by Courtney Sawyer of Bellingham, Wash. These are like the love child of a Cuban sandwich and a Hot Pocket.

Simply Sweet Treats: Peanutty Pie Crust Clusters by Beth Royals of Richmond, Va. These are decadent white-chocolate-covered clusters of peanuts, peanut butter and pie crust pieces.

Savory Snacks and Sides: Creamy Corn-Filled Sweet Peppers by Jody Walker of Madison, Miss. Gorgeous item, which wraps crescent dough around corn-filled peppers.
