And hair's the reveal: Jim Jackson, mustache-less

The Flyers announcer goes through with it.

Flyers announcer Jim Jackson had his long-running mustache shaved off today for charity.

Jackson started growing it about a year after his 1985 graduation from Syracuse, and wife Bernadette and kids Deanna, 12, and Johnny, 9, have never seen him without it.

JJ submitted to shears as a fund-raiser associated with the Preston & Steve Campout for Hunger, which is set up this week at the MetroPlex in Plymouth Meeting.

"Different was the word," Jackson said was the consensus from players and colleagues during today's Flyers practice. "Most say it makes me look younger, and my wife likes it." He's not sure if it will stay off.

Donations are still being totaled but are expected to be more than $1,000.

"My mustache was certainly worth it," he said.
