3 beer gardens planned for the Philly suburbs

Taps to open in Kennett Square, Conshohocken, and the Ambler area.

With pop-up beer gardens all the rage over the last several years in Philadelphia, the suburbs are getting into the act.

Last month, I mentioned The Creamery, taking over a century-old building once occupied by the Eastern Condensed Milk Company in Kennett Square. It opens June 3 and will run Thursday to Sunday through mid-September. It's a partnership among owner Michael Bontrager and property manager Sandra Mulry with experiential marketing firm Mole Street and landscape architecture and installation company Groundswell Design Group. Food and beverage will be managed collaboratively by the owners of the Institute Bar, Whetstone Tavern, and Brauhaus Schmitz, and will be overseen by chef Jeremy Nolen of both Whetstone Tavern and Brauhaus Schmitz. Hours will be 5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, 2 p.m. to midnight Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. Info is here.

Now how about two others:

Ambler: Tuesday night, the Lower Gwynedd Township Board of Supervisors approved the Ambler Yards Beer Garden at 300 Brookside Ave., Ambler. The garden - for which Fort Washington's Cantina Feliz and sister restaurant Taqueria Feliz Horsham will provide food and beverage - will be open on Thursdays and Saturdays starting May 19 and will run until the end of June. (It will be closed Memorial Day weekend.) The arrangement is run by Kevin Tierney and Ben Bergman, with Ambler Yards owners Matt Sigel and Marc Policarpo. Menu will include two beers and beer-friendly food, including the signature guacamole. Info is here.

Conshohocken: In early June, Tierney and Esther Pulver are headed to the banks of the Schuylkill with Conshohocken Beer Garden, whose food and beverage partners will be Bar Lucca as well as Pepperoncini. This one will be set up at 2 Ash St., in part of the parking lot at the 3 Tower property, near the Residence Inn. Because of the licensing, patrons will have to register in advance via Tierney's website, MoreThanTheCurve.com. The Conshohocken beer garden, open Wednesday through Saturday, will run through October.
