The Academy Awards' best dressed

Last night's Oscar looks closed the red carpet season with glitz and and subdued seduction. Here are my top 5 sartorial winners.

Only Lupita Nyong'o can pull off a gown fashioned from 6,000 - yes, 6,000 - pearls. This Francisco Costa for Calvin Klein sheath is a piece of art, albeit heavy. P.S. Thank you for showing America the many beautiful things a black woman can do with a mini fro.

This Dior is interesting in silhouette, but on Marion Cotillard the gown with its drop waist and unexpected belt placement is rather awesome.

Zoe Saldana just had twins. Doesn't she look trim, slim and fabulous in blush Atelier Versace?

I'm such a sucker for a princess gown. I'm an even bigger sucker for a halter. Put the two together and I'm in heaven. We love Felicity Jones in this Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen confection.

If I were to do sexy on the red carpet, I would do it with a plunging neckline like Margot Robbie did I this exquisite Saint Laurent. (I told you sleeves would begin to dominate evening wear.)
