UNIQLO fans rejoice. The Japanese casual clothing retailer announced this morning three new UNIQLO stores set to open in the Philadelphia area during the spring and fall of this year.
UNIQLO King of Prussia will officially open its doors in just a couple weeks on May 16th with traditional Japanese Taiko drum performances throughout opening weekend.
The first 500 customers to visit the store each day on the 16th, 17th, and 18th will receive a complimentary UNIQLO tote bag. Customers who spend $50 or more opening weekend will get a free sweat-absorbent AIRism product.
The region will see two more UNIQLO shops open for business later in the year. Their Center City location will open on October 3rd at 1608 Chestnut Street.
UNIQLO will maintain and restore the original art-deco façade of the former Filene’s Basement and plans to occupy all three stories of the 29,000 square foot property. The space will boast the largest kids section in the entire UNIQLO chain at 2,300 square feet.
Other features of the Center City location include a “museum corner” on the ground floor where UNIQLO will showcase their SPRZ NY (Surprise New York) collection, an artful collaboration in partnership with MoMA. UNIQLO’s 5th Avenue flagship store is the only other retail location to carry the collection.
The third UNIQLO store is to open at Willow Grove Park just a week after the Center City unveiling on the 10th of October.
UNIQLO’s parent organization is Fast Retailing Co., Ltd., a Japanese retail holding company that designs and sells brands Comptoir des Cotonniers, GU, Helmut Lang, J Brand, Princesse tam.tam, Theory, and UNIQLO. There are currently 20 UNIQLO shops in the U.S. and 1,3000 worldwide.
