Cult Classic Goods is a local lifestyle brand that aims to "tell the stories of underground creativity through bold events, fashion and journalism." The brand, which melds music, fashion and art, hopes to do just that on Friday, Sept. 18 when they hold their Black Like Water Official Release Event.

Brand co-owner Anthonly Coleman said the Black Like Water Collection is Cult Classic's new fashion collection inspired by "the state of people of color in America," especially since Mike Brown was killed in Ferguson.

A featured art exhibit with artwork from artists like Allegra Vvonne Gia, Jona Shreeves Taylor, Brooks Bell and Chilly-o will explore the same concepts.

When society lets you down," reads promo material for the Black Like Water launch event, "you must look within and to each other for survival."

The Black Like Water Official Release will be held on the fourth floor of the James Oliver Gallery (723 Chestnut St.) from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Entry is free and a portion of the proceeds from clothing and art sales will benefit afterschool programs in North Philadelphia.
