#8 Hofstra Defeats Saint Joseph's Men's Lacrosse, 11-3

The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team fell to eighth-ranked Hofstra, 11-3, in its first-ever meeting with the Pride on Saturday afternoon at Finnesey Field. Scott Cullinan scored a goal and tallied an assist for the Hawks.

The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team fell to eighth-ranked Hofstra, 11-3, in its first-ever meeting with the Pride on Saturday afternoon at Finnesey Field. Scott Cullinan scored a goal and tallied an assist for the Hawks.

Cullinan netted the first goal of the game at the 8:44 mark in the first quarter before Hofstra held SJU scoreless while tallying the next 11 goals. The Pride scored two in the first and four in the second quarter to take a 6-1 lead at halftime.

Hofstra outshot Saint Joseph's, 16-7, held a 15-10 advantage in ground balls, and won 7-of-9 faceoffs in the first half.

The Pride tallied three goals in the third and two in the fourth before Saint Joseph's Kyle Mahoney scored a man-up goal with 4:30 to go. Williams netted the final goal of the game with 33 seconds left on the clock.

Overall, Hofstra outshot SJU, 35-20, and held a 13-5 advantage in faceoffs. Jamie Lincoln and Jay Card led the Pride with three goals apiece, while Ian Braddish tallied four assists on the afternoon.

Saint Joseph's goalkeepers Chris Moffa and Griffin Ferrigan combined for 12 saves in net with six apiece.

The Hawks return to action when they host Delaware on Saturday, April 16. The first faceoff is set for 1:00 p.m. at Finnesey Field.
