Saint Joseph's Baker Named Atlantic 10 and Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Coming off a career-high 29 points in Saint Joseph's double-overtime victory over Princeton on Sunday, junior guard Michelle Baker (Wilmington, Del./Brandywine) was recognized for her stellar play as she was named both the Atlantic 10 and Big 5 women's basketball player of the week, conference officials announced on Monday.

In the Hawks' lone game of the week, Baked tallied 29 points in a 70-61 double-overtime victory over Princeton. Hitting 11-of-18 from the field (61 percent) and 7-of-9 from the foul line for the game, Baker excelled in the second half and overtime sessions, scoring 22 points on 8-of-11 from the floor and 6-of-7 from the foul line. She also added seven rebounds, a team-high four assists, a block and a steal in 47 minutes of action.

It is the first Atlantic 10 weekly honor for Baker and her second-straight Big 5 weekly recognition.

Baker and the Hawks return to action Wednesday at Delaware. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
