Sixers beloved employee Barnes passes away

The 76ers lost a treasure on Friday when Marlene Barnes, the executive assistant to the president, passed away at her Lansdowne home. Barnes' three children and grandchildren were at her side. The cause of death was cancer.

Her funeral is set for Saturday.

In 39 years with the franchise, Barnes went from secretary to executive assistant. A special lady, Barnes' family has received condolences from Mo Cheeks, Doug Collins, Gene Shue and Jerry Stackhouse among others.

She was also mentioned in former president of basketball operations/general manager Sam Hinkie's resignation letter back in April.
