For Sixers' Joel Embiid, playing remainder of road trip is 'going to be a challenge'

SAN ANTONIO – The 76ers don't anticipate playing Joel Embiid in the final two games of their four-game road trip.

"I think it's going to a challenge," coach Brett Brown said. "I feel like we will categorically know more in the next days."

The rookie center did not travel with the team to Wednesday's game against the Dallas Mavericks and Thursday's contest against the San Antonio Spurs because of a bruised left knee.  The Sixers originally said they would reevaluate things after the Spurs' game. They play at Miami on Saturday night and at Detroit on Monday night.

Embiid has missed three straight and six of the seven games since suffering the injury Jan. 20 against the Portland Trail Blazers.

"In my mind, I'm really trying to take the team that is in that locker room and move them along," Brown said, "and treat Joel like he will be a really great addition if we do see him in Miami.

"But it's not something that I'm completely planning on it at all."
