76ers-Pacers best/worst: George, Anderson, elbows and no fight from Sixers' interior defense
A look at some of the best and worst performances from the Indiana Pacers’ 120-111 victory over the 76ers on Monday night.
This is my look at some of the best and worst performances from the Indiana Pacers' 120-111 victory over the 76ers on Monday night at the Wells Fargo Center.
Best performance: This goes to Paul George on a night when the Pacers swingman traded elbows with Sixers reserve guard Gerald Henderson. The incidents led to both players' being ejected with 2 minutes, 59 seconds remaining. However, George was the best player on the court. The All-Star finished with a game-high 27 points to go with five assists, two steals and one block. Seventeen of his points came in the first quarter.
Worst performance: I had to give this to Justin Anderson. The Sixers swingman shot 1 for 4 from the field to finish with six points. He also failed to get a rebound or an assist in 21 minutes, 29 seconds of action.
Best defensive performance: Myles Turner wins this award. The Pacers center finished with a game-high four blocks to go with two steals. He also had 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Best performance by a Sixer: Shooting guard Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot scored a career-high 24 points. He made 8 of 12 field-goal attempts, including 4 of 5 on three-pointers.
Worst statistic: This award goes to the combined shooting of Sixers forwards Anderson and Dario Saric. They combined to make just 4 of 14 shots, as Saric missed seven of his 10 attempts.
Best statistic: I'm giving this to the Sixers' foul shooting. They made 90.3 percent (28 of 31) of their free throws.
Worst of the worst: I could give this to George and Henderson for their altercation that began with Henderson pulling George down to the court with 5:08 left. But, hey, at least they showed some fight. The same can't be said for the Sixers' interior defense. The team surrendered 62 points in the paint on 31-for-48 shooting. The Pacers did whatever they wanted down low.
