Moultrie, Brown sent to D-League

The 76ers assigned Arnett Moultrie and Lorenzo Brown to their NBA Development League team, the Delaware 87ers on Tuesday.

The two were available for Tuesday night's Sevens' game against the Maine Red Claws at the Univesity of Delaware.

Moultrie has yet to play for the Sixers this season to due to an left ankle injury.  The franchise sent the second-year power to Sevens to receive extended on-court action as a way to speed up his return with the Sixers.

Sixers coach Brett Brown wants the 6-foot-10, 240-pounder to display energy and athleticism when he finally sees action this season in an NBA game.

Moultrie participated in five-on-five scrimmages for the first time this season on Dec. 31 after preseason surgery on his ankle. He was expected to play in late January. However, his conditioning was the level the Sixers required to play.

Moultrie averaged 3.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 11.5 minutes in 47 games played last season as a rookie.  But Moultrie showed some promise, making 12 consecutive shot attempts during a four-game span from Feb. 28 to March 5.  He also shot 66.7 percent during his final 14 games played in the 2012-13 season.

Brown was re-assigned to Delaware one day after being recalled by the Sixers following a six-day stint with Sevens. This is his sixth D-League assignment.

Brown played 11 games during his previous five D-League assignments. He averaged 19 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.

The North Carolina State product averaged 2.9 points, 1.8 assists, 1.1 rebounds, and 9.5 minutes in 19 appearances with the Sixers before Monday
