'Best' & 'Worst' awards: Sixers vs. Suns

My look at some of the best and worst performances and happenings from the Phoenix Suns' 124-113 victory over the 76ers on Monday night at Wells Fargo Center:

Best performance:  Gerald Green gets this for being the newest member of the group of players who have dominated the Sixers. The 6-foot-8 shooting guard finished with a season-high 30 points, three blocked shots, two assists, two rebounds, and a steal. Green did have a team-worst four turnovers. But it's hard to hold that against someone who made his first seven shot attempts en route to shooting 10 of 12. He went 4-for-5 from the three-point land.

Worst performance:  This goes to Tony Wroten. The Sixers backup point guard struggled from the field, making just 1 of 6 shots. He finished with two points. He also had three turnovers, two rebounds and two steals.

Best performance in a losing effort: Michael Carter-Williams even though he was far from the most efficient Sixer. The rookie point guard made just 7 of 19 shots. But he finished with a team-high 22 points to go with a game-high 11 assists, a blocked shot, a steal and three turnovers.

Best defensive performance:  This goes to Philadelphia native Morkieff Morris. The Suns sixth man and forward finished with a game-high four blocked shots.

Worst statistic: How can you not give this to the Sixers' turnovers?  They committed 21 on the night.

Best statistic: This award goes to the Sixers' foul shooting.  They made 25 of 26 (96.2 percent) from the line.

Worst of the Worst:  The Sixers' first-quarter defense. The Suns basically did whatever it wanted in the first 12 minutes. They made 10 of their first 11 shots en route to shooting 77.3 percent in the opening quarter. A telling sign that things were going to be bad came when Sixers coach Brett Brown called a timeout 25 seconds into the game.
