Wiggins selected first in NBA Draft

NEW YORK – For the second year in a row the Cleveland Cavaliers have taken a Canadian player with the first overall pick of the NBA Draft.

A year after drafting Anthony Bennett first, the Cavaliers selected Kansas 6-foot-8 freshman Andrew Wiggins as the top pick in Thursday's draft at the Barclays Center.

This season Wiggins averaged 17.1 points and 5.9 rebounds and is considered among the best athletes in the draft.

The Sixers, with the third and 10th overall picks, were extremely high on Wiggins and held trade discussions for Cleveland about securing the first overall pick.
