Mike Schmidt, Brad Lidge, Charlie Manuel to be instructors at Phillies spring training

Mike Schmidt, Brad Lidge, and Charlie Manuel - three of the most integral pieces to the Phillies' pair of World Series titles - will be among six former Phillies to serve as guest instructors during spring training.

They will be joined by Larry Andersen, Chad Durbin, and Wes Helms. It will be Durbin and Helms' first time as instructors. The first workout for pitchers and catchers in Clearwater, Fla. is scheduled for Feb. 14, and full-squad workouts are slated to begin on Feb. 17. The instructors are usually dispatched sporadically throughout the seven-week camp.

Schmidt, 67, has become a fixture at spring training. He'll return again this season as a broadcaster on the team's telecasts. Manuel, who turned 73 in January, works each spring as a hitting instructor. He is still employed by the team as a senior advisor to general manager Matt Klentak.

Lidge, 40, is a satellite radio host for MLB Network Radio and was a guest instructor for the Phillies in 2014. He will be forever remembered in Philadelphia for converting each of his 48 save chances in 2008, the final one a strikeout to bring the city its first championship in 25 years.

Andersen, a relief pitcher on the 1983 and 1993 National League champs and the team's popular radio broadcaster, is also a regular at camp. Durbin, who joined Lidge in that 2008 bullpen, retired after the 2013 season. Helms' lone season with the Phillies was the the 2007 division championship campaign. He retired after the 2011 season.
