Cliff Lee progresses; Carlos Ruiz, Ben Revere undergo surgery

Two Phillies underwent surgery, another has one planned, and an expensive arm passed a recent test.

Cliff Lee underwent yet another MRI on his strained left elbow last Friday. The examination "yielded positive results as his flexor tendon is healing well," the team said in a statement. Lee remains on target to begin a throwing program sometime in November.

He is owed $37.5 million (including a buyout) in 2015, and remains one of the team's most looming questions.

Both Carlos Ruiz and Ben Revere are expected to be ready well before spring training starts. Ruiz had "minor arthroscopic surgery" Monday on his left shoulder, the team said. Revere had two screws removed from his right ankle.

Ruiz will return to Philadelphia in a month for a follow-up examination. Revere will be in a walking boot for two weeks.

A.J. Burnett's hernia surgery has not yet been scheduled. The 37-year-old pitcher said he consulted with numerous doctors about the procedure. Burnett must decide on his $12.75 million option soon after the World Series ends.
