Brown equates big defensive play to hitting a HR

Phillies leftfielder Domonic Brown said it was one of the best feelings a player can have.

WASHINGTON -- Phillies leftfielder Domonic Brown said it was one of the best feelings a player can have. Not known for his defense, Brown had a defining play during Friday's 9-8 comeback win in 11 innings over the host Washington Nationals.

Trailing 7-2, Brown nailed Jayson Werth at the plate on a Bryce Harper liner to end the seventh inning.

"It's a great feeling," Brown said before Saturday's game. "It is up there with hitting a home run and those kind of things."

It was Brown's second assist of the season and this throw came fairly deep in left field and sailed directory to catcher Carlos Ruiz.

"I knew I had a shot but I wasn't sure," Brown said. "I wanted to throw it through the cutoff man but not sail over his head. I wanted to make it close and I did."

The win was the Phillies' 11th in their last 16 games.

"I been playing more and having a lot of fun the last couple of weeks we are wining ball games," Brown said. "This is how it was in 2010 and 2011, you could never count us out."

Brown is back in the lineup for today's 4:05 p.m. game as A.J. Burnett (7-15, 4.40) faces Nationals RHP Tanner Roark (12-9, 2.91).
