Brown out of lineup due to illness

Domonic Brown was in the Phillies original lineup for Saturday's game against the visiting Washington Nationals, but then was pulled due to illness.

"He is ill today," manager Ryne Sandberg said before the games. "A little bit of a fever and some other things going on so he will be checked out and it is yet to be determined (how long he will be out)."

Grady Sizemore, who was originally slated to start in center field, moved over to left but stayed in the leadoff spot. Ben Revere will play center and bat eighth.

Brown did enter the game in the seventh inning and got a pinch-hit single. He was replaced by pinch runner Tony Gwynn Jr.

For all his struggles, Brown is hitting .338 with runners in scoring position (26-77) which is tied for seventh in the National League.

Brown's 46 RBIs are second among National League leftfielders to Atlanta's Justin Upton, who entered today with 51.
