Voracek in a groove for surging Flyers

Prior to Thursday, Flyers winger Jake Voracek had two four-point games in his career. Since then he has doubled the total. Not only that but Voracek, with 32 points (11 goals, 21 assists) in 30 games, is second in the NHL in scoring, trailing only new Flyers fan favorite Connor McDavid of Edmonton, who had 38 points.

Voracek had a goal and three assists in Thursday's 6-5 win over Edmonton and added an empty net goal and three assists in Saturday's 4-2 victory over the Dallas Stars.

During the Flyers current eight-game win streak, Voracek has 14 points (four goals, 11 assists). He is playing like the 2014-2015 all-star, a year in which he had 22 goals and 59 assists.

All three of his assists went to Brayden Schenn on the power play. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Voracek is the first Flyer to post eight points over a two-game span since Mike Richards, who did it in games through Feb. 19 & 21, 2009.

"He's been great for us all year," Schenn said of Voracek.

Voracek went scoreless in the six games before the winning streak. The Flyers went 2-3-1 in those games.

Still, Voracek insists that nothing has changed, with the exception of his points explosion.

"I think even if I went those six games without a point a couple weeks back I don't think I am playing any different now," he said. "Just when you stick with it and when you work hard the points will eventually come, and that is exactly what is happening now."

With 52 games remaining, Voracek realizes there is more than half the season left. So even with the hot streak, he wants to keep everything well in perspective.

"I have got streaks like that in the past years," he said. "Like I said it is only thirty games in. Obviously you are going to hit some slumps like every team does but you have to make sure it doesn't last for a long time."
