Flyers' week ahead

STAT WATCH

5 percent: Flyers' success on the power play (1-for-19) since Oct. 18. They haven't scored with a man-advantage in 3 straight games (0-for-8).

4: Points in 4 games for Vinny Lecavalier, who scored the Flyers' lone goal Saturday in his first game back after missing 3 weeks with a left foot injury.

THE WEEK AHEAD

vs. Edmonton
Tomorrow, 7 o'clock
For our degenerate friends: bet the over in total goals for the Flyers/Oilers game. Edmonton is one of three teams to allow more goals than the Flyers this season - which is a scary thought. Before heading east to begin a five-game swing, the Oilers (4-6-1) dropped two in a row, right on the heels of a four-game winning streak. Taylor Hall (6 goals) has 10 points in 11 games.

vs. Florida
Thursday, 7 o'clock
After Saturday's loss, the Flyers will have another crack at the Panthers (4-2-3) in short order. Only one team in the NHL (Buffalo) has scored fewer goals (13) than Florida (14) - and the Sabres were four goals off a 1928-29 record for fewest through the first 10 games of the season. On the flip side: Florida is also tied for allowing the fewest goals (18) thanks to Roberto Luongo. Rookie defenseman Aaron Ekblad became the 5th Panther to score his first NHL goal as an 18-year-old when he did it against the Flyers.

vs. Colorado
Saturday, 7 o'clock
Many expected the Avalanche (3-4-5) to take a step back this season in the brutal Central division. Not everyone thought it would happen right out of the gate like this, though. Semyon Varlamov (.934 SV%) has made the Avalanche's suspect defense appear better than it's been. Up front, the offense has been fine, including newcomer Jarome Iginla, who has 8 points in 12 games. Danny Briere (2 goals) and Max Talbot (2 assists) will also return to Philly.

PHANTOMS PHILE

The Phantoms dropped two in a row at PPL Center this weekend to fall to 4-3-1 on the season. Nick Cousins (10 points) and Scott Laughton (5 goals) continue to pace the team in scoring. Prospect Anthony Stolarz (.922 SV%) has been strong in net, but hasn't received the bulk of the work behind veteran Rob Zepp. Forward Petr Straka has 5 points in his last 6 games.
