Five things to know today about the Flyers as they host Devils

Five things to know today about the Flyers (37-32-8), winners of three straight, as they host the New Jersey Devils (27-36-14) tonight:

  1. If Boston wins Saturday, Toronto picks up at least a point in its game, and the Flyers lose in regulation, Philadelphia would be eliminated from the playoffs with four games left.

  2. The Flyers, who will have right winger Colin McDonald (recalled from the Phantoms) in the lineup, are six points out of a playoff spot and are 0-3 against the Devils, who are the worst team in the Eastern Conference. If the Flyers had been 3-0 against New Jersey, they would be tied in points with Boston, which holds the Eastern Conference's last wild-card spot.

  3. Center Sean Couturier is plus-16 in March and plus-10 for the season. He has 14 points in his last 14 games.

  4. The Devils are playing on back-to-back nights. They were shorthanded a season-high 10 times (allowing one power-play goal) in their 2-1 loss Friday to the Islanders.

  5. In their three meetings this season, New Jersey has outscored the Flyers, 14-3, and its power play is 5 for 16 while its penalty kill is 11 for 11. The Devils will have Cory Schneider in the nets and he will oppose Michal Neuvirth.
