Super Bowl notes: 'Pot Roast' at WR, bored Seahawks, and Keyshawn says more smart things

JERSEY CITY, NJ -- One of the entertaining personalities of Super Bowl week has been hefty former Temple standout Terrance Knighton, who plays DT for the Broncos. Knighton's nickname is "Pot Roast," as he is listed at 6'3, 335. When he played at Windsor High School just outside Hartford, CT, Knighton played wide receiver. In his junior year, Knighton had 30 catches for 400 yards and 4 TDs.

"I didn't run many routes," said Knighton. "I just ran slants, posts and fade routes. Most of the time in the red zone the ball was coming to me." Here's what I imagine that looked like:

It's almost like when you're playing Madden, and you create the biggest player possible, then stick him at a position where he'd look funny.

Knighton experienced a lot of losing before he got to Denver. He spent 4 years at Temple, before being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Teams that Knighton was on from 2005-2012 were a combined 32-79 (.288).

His first year in Denver was his first winning season since he got to Temple.

Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch has become one of the stories of the week because of his reluctance to speak with the media, so much so that other players are now answering questions about Lynch. When asked about his teammate's media issues, DE Michael Bennett delivered the following confusing gem.

"I don't think the media understands anybody, because if they did, they wouldn't be mediating."

I can't argue that logic.

Here's Jermaine Kearse during the Seahawks' media session today. With the media all over guys like Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman, and Russell Wilson, Kearse was bored.

For the last 2 days, I've been bugging Seahawks punter Jon Ryan about whether Donnie Jones is the MVP of the Universe, or just of the NFL. Initially, he gave a non committal answer, saying "Donnie Jones is great punter." Then yesterday, Ryan acknowledged that Jones "might" be the MVP of the Universe. Today, unprompted, Ryan recognized me walking by, called me over, and acknowledged that Jones is indeed emphatically the MVP of the Universe. Damn straight.

This isn't Super Bowl related, but for any of you who care what Keyshawn Johnson has to say about anything... You're in luck, because he talked about the Eagles again!

Earlier this month, Keyshawn went on the Jon and Sean show on 97.5 the Fanatic, and gave Chip Kelly a "C" for his work this season.

Keyshawn Johnson was asked to give his grade of Chip Kelly this season. His response, verbatim:

"I would probably say, probably just about a C," said Johnson. "Well because he started off slow. He thought that he was never going to, his offense was going to work to the point, where, of no return. It's been OK. It hasn't been this eye-popping, we're going to all of a sudden change the way that football is played on a professional level. It hasn't done that and I think that was the expectations, and so I would say that he has come up short of expectations."

Jon and Sean had Keyshawn on once again (audio), but this time Keyshawn gave Chip a B+, despite being mostly negative. Once again, Key demonstrated that when it comes to in-depth analysis of all things football, he is the best of the best.
