Ryan Mathews active for Eagles; Odell Beckham Jr. active for Giants

The good news for the Eagles is that running back Ryan Mathews is active for Monday night's game against the New York Giants. The bad news is that wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is active for the Giants.

Mathews, who was questionable with a groin injury, will play. So will Kenjon Barner, the No. 4 running back. The Eagles usually activate only three running backs, but they're playing four on Monday because wide receiver Nelson Agholor is out with an ankle injury.

The Eagles' inactives are Agholor, quarterback Thad Lewis, cornerback Denzel Rice, linebacker Kiko Alonso, offensive lineman Tanner Hawkinson, defensive end Brandon Bair, and linebacker Mychal Kendricks. Agholor, Alonso (knee), Kendricks (hamstring), and Bair (groin) were declared out on Saturday. Hawkinson was signed last week and is still learning the system; Rice and Lewis are usual healthy scratches. Jordan Hicks will start in place of Kendricks at inside linebacker, and Josh Huff will start in Agholor's place at wide receiver.

The Giants will play Beckham, who was questionable after missing practice during the week because of a hamstring injury. They wlll also have starting receiver Rueben Randle, who was probable with a hamstring injury.

But the Giants will not have cornerback Trumaine McBride, who was questionable for the game. They are also missing Prince Amukamara, so the Giants are down two of their top three cornerbacks.

The Giants also are missing starting defensive end Robert Ayers and starting outside linebacker Devon Kennard. The other inactives are tackle Bobby Hart and defensive lineman Louis Nix.

Mark Herzlich, a Conestoga alum, will start in Kennard's place. George Selvie will start in Ayers' place.
