Eagles will open preseason vs. Green Bay Packers, play three AFC East teams

The NFL announced preseason matchups, and the Eagles will begin play at Lambeau Field.

The Eagles will open the preseason at Lambeau Field, host two AFC East teams, and close the preseason up the Jersey Turnpike against the New York Jets.

The NFL announced its preseason matchups on Monday, with the exact dates and times to be announced when the full schedule is released.

The preseason opener will be the second time in three years the Eagles visit the Green Bay Packers for an exhibition game. In 2013, the two teams met in the third preseason game -- and Sam Bradford's sterling performance led to Super Bowl predictions. The first preseason week will be Aug. 10-14.

The Buffalo Bills will visit the Eagles in the second week of the preseason. The Bills come to Philadelphia with new head coach Sean McDermott, a former Eagles assistant who grew up in Lansdale. They also have running back LeSean McCoy, the Eagles' all-time leading rusher. That game will be Aug. 17-21.

The Eagles will host the Miami Dolphins in the third preseason game. It will be the first time the two teams meet in the preseason since 1990. The Dolphins feature former Eagles Kiko Alonso and Byron Maxwell on their defense. That game will be Aug. 24-27.

The preseason finale will be against the Jets, as it has been every year since 2001. The annual game of reserves and roster hopefuls will take place Aug. 31 or Sept. 1.
