Pederson relieved to have new Dorenbos, Maragos deals; Ertz, Matthews practicing Friday

The Eagles announced contract extensions with special teams cogs Chris Maragos and Jon Dorenbos, something that mad Eagles coach Doug Pederson very happy.

"We're just so excited to have these two guys locked up for the next few years," Pederson said. "It makes me sleep at night, having a longsnapper with Jon's experience."

Maragos, who turns 30 in January, got a three-year extension, as did Dorenbos. Maragos is a safety and leader of special teams that rank at or near the top of the NFL in nearly every category. Dorenbos, 36, will surpass Harold Carmichael (162) as the franchise recordholder for consecutive games played by the end of the season. Dorenbos is at 158 heading into Sunday's game at Seattle.

Pederson said Zach Ertz (hamstring) and Jordan Matthews (back spasms) will practice Friday, making them seem likely to play, though they officially will be listed as "questionable." Pederson said the Eagles will take practice squad wideout Paul Turner with them on the trip just in case something happens with Matthews; the Eagles currently are carrying only four wide receivers on the 53-man roster.

Pederson said Ertz's problem was just "tightness in the hamstring" that occurred during Wednesday's practice. He said Matthews' back tightened up as he was lifting weights on Tuesday, and that his limited activity since has been "precautionary."

Dorenbos was a finalist on "America's Got Talent" this year, and has seemed poised to assume a fulltime career as a magician whenever his football days end. There had been speculation this could be his last season, but reliable longsnappers are valued, and Dorenbos seems as sharp as ever.
