Once again, tiresome, cliche list ranks Eagles fans worst in NFL

Some deeply uninspired person at Sports Illustrated, on a fruitless search for meaning in their work, put together a list of the NFL's most hated aspects. We can't be so far removed from the last time one of these listicles surfaced that the idea seemed fresh enough for someone over there to click the publish button, but here we are.

Let's run down the timeline of a 'story' like this:

  1. Someone, somewhere comes up with the idea to do a list of the NFL's worst [whatever]

  2. They mention Eagles fans in the same three or four stories as last time

  3. Eagles fans respond angrily, sardonically, or not at all

  4. Everyone moves on with their lives

  5. Someone, somewhere comes up with the idea to do a list of the NFL's worst [whatever]

Obviously, we're currently in the third stage, but seeing as this is an ongoing cycle with no end, you can't really count the phases numerically.

And why, once again, are the Philadelphia Eagles' fans considered the worst? Perhaps, given the endless retreads of this concept, SI has managed to generate a collection of new stories indicating the fans' horribleness?

They have not.

Let's see if we can spot an obsolete anecdote only a few words in:

"In 1998, the team installed a jail in the bowels of Vetera..."

Yep.

"And in 1999, several of Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin's teammates were understandably distressed when..."
