Halftime: Huff puffs Eagles to lead on wild, windy day

Josh Huff, a wide receiver who struggles to catch passes but is pretty good at returning kicks and punts, staked the Eagles to an 11-3 halftime lead against the unbeaten Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, in one of the ugliest offensive displays in recent memory – on both sides.

Carson Wentz's regression continued, with a pair of first-quarter interceptions and a botched handoff exchange with Darren Sproles, giving the Vikings the ball deep in Eagles territory three times. Somehow, though, the Vikings didn't score, despite being set up at the Eagles' 2 at one point. Sam Bradford threw his first pick of the year, then fumbled while being sacked by Connor Barwin.

So that was five total turnovers in the first 10 minutes of the game. A brisk 20-mph wind from the west made the ball behave like it had been buttered.

In his return to Lincoln Financial Field, Bradford went 10 for 22 for 93 yards with a pick in the first half; Wentz was 9 for 20 for just 53 yards and the two picks.

The Vikings looked no better than the Eagles in a 0-0 first quarter, and they didn't get any better in the second quarter. Bradford's second fumble, forced by Rodney McLeod and recovered by Beau Allen, set up Caleb Sturgis' 35-yard field goal that set the halftime score.

Earlier, the Vikings got on the board with a 48-yard field goal and immediately were punished for scoring – Huff ran the ensuing kickoff, which fluttered in the wind, back 98 yards for a touchdown.
