Handing out 10 awards from the Eagles-Cardinals game

As always, win or lose, pretty or ugly, I present...

10 Eagles awards!

The BFF Forever Award: Nick Foles

"BFF" of course stands for "Back Foot Foles," you know, for Foles' Kevin Kolb-esque penchant for throwing off his back foot.

The Nermal Award: Nate Allen

Nermal is a gullible character on Garfield and Friends that basically looks like a gray version of Garfield. In a running gag, Garfield used to mail Nermal to Abu Dhabi any chance he got. In case you're unfamiliar, Abu Dhabi is a city in the United Arab Emirates, shown here:

Somehow, Nermal would always fall for it. Like... If Garfield was going to try to get Nermal into a box of some sort, there was a 95% chance he was going to seal it up and ship Nermal to Abu Dhabi. At some point, you'd think that Nermal would learn and stop falling for it over and over and over again.

That's kind of how I feel about Nate Allen biting on play action or double moves and giving up huge plays, like he did on the back-breaking bomb to John Brown. When exactly is that going to stop happening?

The CHALLENGE THAT!!! Award: The dude the Eagles hired to advise Chip Kelly on what to challenge

Back in September, the Eagles hired some dude to assist Chip Kelly on what to challenge and what not to challenge. That responsibility was previously in the hands of Pat Shurmur, who was often asleep at the wheel during important challenge situations last season. I envisioned him like Homer Simpson trying to sneak in naps during jury duty:

On the Eagles' next to last drive when they had to settle for three instead of seven, running back Chris Polk arguably had a touchdown, but at a minimum at least had a first down.

Unfortunately, the officials gave the Eagles a terrible spot that the Eagles didn't challenge, which should have been an obvious decision. Instead of a TD or 1st and goal from the 1, the Eagles faced a 3rd down, and as we saw, they were stopped. The replay mistakes were supposed to be fixed. Apparently not.

The Trigger Happy Award: The officials

You all saw it. There were basically two parts to every play today -- The play itself, then finding out if it actually counted or not.

The Eagle Killer Award: Larry Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald had seven catches for 160 yards and a TD. Here are Fitzgerald's updated career numbers against Philly:

Project those numbers over a 16 game season, and you get 107 catches for 1835 yards, and 25 TDs.

The Make Money Money Award: Jeremy Maclin

Maclin is now on pace for 89 catches, 1444 yards and 14 TDs. If he keeps up a pace anywhere close to that, the Eagles are going to have to pay him a boatload of money to keep him this offseason, when Maclin is scheduled to become a free agent.

The Barney Fife Award: Chip Kelly

What was this on Chip Kelly's playsheet?

The Uber-Conservative Award: Chip Kelly

With six seconds left in the first half at the Cardinals' 44 yard line, Kelly elected to punt instead of trying a Hail Mary. Why not just chuck it up for grabs one last time? I mean... That's what Nick Foles did for most of the game anyway.

The Stud Award: Cody Parkey

Parkey drilled a key 54 yard field goal and hit touchbacks all day. The kid is a stud. I love Cody Parkey, mainly because I can re-post this anytime he does something good:

The Missed Opportunity Award: The Eagles

The Eagles had three trips into the red zone and scored three points. Simply unacceptable.
