The Eagles re-signed linebacker Najee Goode to a one-year contract on Thursday, continuing an Eagles career that won't end.

Goode, 27, came to the Eagles in 2013 and has been cut twice. Each year, he finds his way back. He's now under contract for a fifth season in Philadelphia, where Goode has carved a role as a valuable special-teams player and backup linebacker.

Goode was third on the team last season in special-teams snaps with 292 (66 percent), and his 12 special-teams tackles trailed only Chris Maragos. The Eagles didn't need him on defense last season; he took only two defensive snaps. But Goode can back up at weakside linebacker.

Goode will need to compete in training camp for a reserve spot. The Eagles still have 2016 rookies Kamu Grugier-Hill, Joe Walker, and Don Cherry under contract, and they could add to that group during draft weekend.
