Eagles reportedly will pursue DeSean Jackson in the offseason

Eagles fans who continue to lament the loss of wide receiver DeSean Jackson might have something to look forward to.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles are expected to make a strong push to reacquire Jackson in the offseason. Jackson was cut by then-head coach Chip Kelly in March 2014.

Jackson will be an unrestricted free agent, and with Washington looking to secure deals for quarterback Kirk Cousins and wide receiver Pierre Garcon, Philadelphia might seem a likely landing spot for the 30-year-old receiver.

Jackson, who made the Pro Bowl three out of the six seasons he spent with the Eagles, made it known he was open to returning to Philadelphia in October.

"I never really had hard feelings toward Philadelphia, besides being released by whoever released me,"Jackson said before the Eagles' Week 6 game against Washington. "I mean that is different, but I guess he is not there anymore."

Before that game, a former teammate in the Eagles' locker room told the Daily News' Les Bowen, "He definitely wants to come back. He loved it here."

ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio wrote that Washington should be very upset about the report. According to Florio, no only could Jackson be inclined to make "business decisions" during the team's playoff hunt, the Eagles may have violated the league's anti-tampering rule by revealing they intend to try and bring the wide receiver back.

During the 2015 season, the NFL penalized the Chiefs for speaking directly to former Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. As Florio points out of the Jackson report, "This potential violation strikes more directly at the heart of the rule, putting Jackson on notice as his contract in Washington comes to an end that another team in the same division is ready and willing to sign him to a new one."
