Eagles RB Darren Sproles named NFC Offensive Player of the Week

Darren Sproles had a monster game against the Indianapolis Colts Monday night, catching seven passes for 152 yards, which included long gains of 51 and 57 yards, most of which Sproles got after the catch. He also had a great 19 yard bruising touchdown run.

For his efforts, Sproles was named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Week. It is his first time winning the award, although he was once named the Special Teams Player of the Week.

Here's a sampling of Sproles' play so far with the Eagles set to the Super Mario Brothers theme song:

This past offseason, the Eagles traded a fifth round pick for Sproles, which was met with mixed response. On the one hand, the thought of a player like Sproles in the Eagles offense was very intriguing. On the other hand, there were concerns that Sproles' best days may be behind him, at the age of 31.

Sproles has clearly been worth the price. Without him, the Eagles might not be off to a 2-0 start.
