Updating the NBA schedule

The complete NBA schedule will be released next week, on Tuesday, Aug. 10.

But borrowing a page from the NFL, the NBA is looking to make the announcement of its marquee games into an event unto itself.

The "NBA Schedule Selection Special" airs Tuesday night (7 p.m.) on NBA TV, with the announcement of the national television schedule for the season openers, Christmas Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day games. Those games will air on TNT, ESPN, ABC and NBA TV.

Rick Kamla will host the hourlong show while Chris Webber and Craig Sager will provide analysis of the key matchups. TNT analysts Steve Kerr and Kenny Smith will join the trio via satellite.

The NBA has a number of interesting ways it can go in terms of filling its marquee games. Good bet that Miami will be involved in all of them in some fashion. There are plenty of LeBron-related storylines, including LeBron returns to Cleveland and LeBron and the Heat vs. the Lakers, that should attract plenty of attention.
