The Sixers have waived guard Sean Singletary and forward/center Stromile Swift, trimming the roster to 15.

Singletary, the Penn Charter product. appeared in one game for a total of 10 minutes this preseason for the Sixers.

Swift was seemingly destined to be cut when he was injured in virtually his first workout with the team. He missed the Sixers first three preseason games with a strained left hamstring.

A little surprised to see Singletary cut so soon. It sounded like he was making a good impression in training camp.

It really shows what great depth and talent the 76ers when they can just simply waive a player as talented and special as Taylor Swift.

@BIGGZ043: Pretty sure he was joking. Taylor Swift is the popular singer whose VMA acceptance speech was (in)famously interrupted by Kanye West.

Swift whooooooooooo? Singletary whoooooooooo?

hugh
Swift was actually the 2nd overall pick in the 2000 draft. I know he was a major bust, but he was highly touted coming out of college. This year, I want to see some Speights, Lou, Speights, Holiday, Speights, Jason Smith, Thad and some more Speights.

Who cares - the Sixers have no real depth!

The Sixers are so pathetic. What was the hurry in cutting Singletary? Was there a deadline to trim the roster? He can't be any worse than Gary Grant, Scott Brooks, Doug Overton, or Kevin Ollie.

Must be "Cut All Guys Whose Last Name Begins With S" Monday. Hopefully, Stefanski got a pink slip as well.

The criticism of the Sixers moves thus far is unfounded and quite illogical. Essentially they are adding a 20-10 player to a .500 team, dropping a low point guard for a much quicker one, adding a 6-11 player, adding a three point shooter, another wingman, all to a core of developing players that everyone under-rates in spite of terrific statistics. Never mind the new coach who is bringing a structured offense. The ones whining and complaining know nothing about basketball, or what it takes to build a winner. Ed and Eddie are doing a great job. Watch them win 50 games or better this season, and make real noise in the playoffs. Iguodala will be an all-star this season, Brand might make it too. Thad Young is another 20-10 player and so is Speights. This team is loaded with young talent.

Ricky - I appreciate your optimism, and I agree that the Sixers are on the way up BUT to say that Thad Young and M. Speights are going to average 20-10 is way out there. Young is not a low post player. He's a 3 who can play some 4. He could push close to 20 points a game, I agree, but no way is he averaging 10 rebounds. And Speights is a good young prospect, but will not average 20 a game at this point in his career, more like 12 to 13 with 7 boards. He hasn't proven to be a beast on the glass. The only player with 20-10 ability on the Sixers is Elton Brand, and it looks like his best days are behind him. Also, count me as also surprised to see Singletary get cut so early, but Swift, nah, not really.
