Sixers face Wizards and No. 1 pick John Wall tonight

POSTED: Tuesday, November 2, 2010, 11:32 AM

Despite suffereing a mildly sprained right ankle on Saturday, No. 1 pick John Wall will be ready to play tonight for his winless Washington Wizards (0-2) as they host the Sixers (0-3) and No. 2 pick Evan Turner.

Both players have said that this is not a showdown between the two of them, more importantly it is a chance for their team to get its first win.

Wall was wearing a protective boot after yesterday's practice, but was moving around the court fine during the last half hour when media members were allowed to watch.

Wall is averaging 21 points thus far, and has deal nine assists in each of his first two pro games.

Coach Doug Collins said this morning that he will stick with the starting lineup of Jrue Holiday, Andre Iguodala, Andres Nocioni, Elton Brand and Spencer Hawes. Collins said that shooting swingman Jason Kapono, who started the fisrt two games of the season before being replaced by Nocioni, might see some extended minutes as Wizards coach Flip Saunders likes to play a lot of zone. Kapono didn't get off the bench in Saturday's loss at Indianapolis.

The Sixers will host the Pacers tomorrow night.

Interesting how quickly Kapono went from starter to DNP. I wonder why have Kapono's previous teams have been able to use him more than the Sixers have under Jordan and Collins.

Peter, other teams had post player that demanded double team so easier for Jason to get shots.

Just as you must have 3 point shoters to open up the floor for slashers and for low post game, you must certainly need a low post game and rebounding to get open looks in transition or when the defense is still moving to be a succesful 3 point shoters.

We need a strong rebounding, mean PF or Center! Brand by himself is not enough.

Kapono's just in a bad situation. Can't we hold Miami hostage and get something? An expiring contract, a pick, something, anything? No point in keeping Kapono around. Everyone knows they need a shooter, especially with Miller out.

If the Sixers lose tonight, does Collins change the starting lineup?
    1. Maybe we can start with the sixers vetran players. Lou, iggy, nonci, brand, and battie!
