Scout disses Sixers in Sports Illustrated

Rare to open Sports Illustrated and see something on the Sixers, but it's there this week. On the "Inside the NBA" page, Chris Mannix has a small item in which he quotes an unnamed Western Conference scout talking about the Sixers. Here it is:
"They are having dunk contests before games; they are running plays sloppily or not all the way through; and they aren't listening to (coach) Eddie Jordan. They have quit. They know Eddie is gone (after the season) and they think they don't have to listen anymore. The thing is, they are making themselves look like a-------. These guys think that just because Eddie is gone they will be back (next year). But nobody wants guys who give up when things go bad. Eddie's offense was a bad fit for this roster - they have to find a way to play more up-tempo - but these guys are embarrassing themselves. And everyone around the league knows it."
There you have it. Thoughts?
Doubt any of us could have said it better. PhillySubsMac
Are you saying that this team is'nt good? cuch
patgroff what are you talking about being mediocre for 4 years? Last time they were good was the 02-03 season. They were a 4 seed, a game away from being a 3 seed, and they almost knocked off the Pistons in the playoffs that year. Why they traded Van Horn for Big Dog after that season, I'll never understand. The Sixers have been a civic embarrassment for going on two decades now. They sold their soul to the Devil by building a team around Allen Iverson, and now the chickens have come home to roost. Good. Not enough bad things can happen to that feeble organization or the lameasses who call themselves fans. Jerome99RIP
There will be another coach after the next coach. You see, its always the coach..if we replace the coach..if we only had another coach...I don't know, maybe its the team... ClarkU
EVERYONE from owner/management down needs to go...with the exception of Holiday and Young. The Sixers have been a joke ever since after the 2001 finals. P.H.I
Stefanski gets to keep his job? zaituna
I hated when Stefanski traded Korver away. Everyone was gelling and they had won like 12 of 15 or something, but he wanted the bigger name and got Brand. They were a good team with Miller running the point and Korver hittin 3's. You don't always need a superstar to win. tfarnath- Isn't there some cartoon show called "Ed, Ed and Eddie"? That's what this organization reminds me of: A Cartoon. And there's no shame in Comcast Country? Hey Roberts, how much money does it take to wash away Shame? Go choke on it. Then you can identify with your "Team".
- They have dunk contests? RJD1959
Some great comments here, but one element is missing. Ed Stefanski! Needless to say, he was the "brain" that hired Jordan. In my mind Stefanski's evaluation of the team in conjunction with the skill set of players needed to properly execute the "Princeton Offense" was way off. Based on that fact, how can he be left in charge to draft players for the future and hire the next coach ? timmel
Bunch of spoiled punks. q2again
The Sixers have been putrid for years and it continues! slade1955- Bill Laimbeer will and should be the next head coach with Rick Mahorn as his number one man so at least they could kick some butts if the players were not motivated. Seriously! BCRock
I keep forgetting the NBA still exists. hawk18
