Report: Bynum won't work out for teams

Center Andrew Bynum, who missed the entire 2012-13 season with the Sixers because of a knee injury, will not work out for teams hoping to sign him, according to a Yahoo Sports report.

Bynum's agent, David Lee, said the unrestricted free agent will begin training in Atlanta this month as he rehabs from knee surgery.

Lee told Yahoo that a "half-dozen teams" are interested in Bynum and that those teams will be given MRI exam reports and other medical reports.

Bynum was part of a four-team trade last August that brought him and Jason Richardson to the Sixers. The Sixers sent Andre Igoudala to Denver and sent Moe Harkless, Nik Vucevic and a protected first-round pick to Orlando.

Bynum last played for the Lakers in the 2011-12 season and averaged 18.7 points and 11.8 rebounds in 60 games.

The Sixers, on draft night last week, acquired the rights to Kentucky center Nerlens Noel. That trade is expected to become official on July 10.

That deal would seem to indicate that the Sixers are not interested in retaining Bynum. When Sam Hinkie was introduced as the Sixers' new general manager last month, he didn't exactly give Bynum a ringing endorsement.

"I think of Andrew like the thousands of other young men walking around the world that are unrestricted free agents that have potential to play NBA basketball," Hinkie said. "He is one of those. I'm duty bound to consider them and look at them. All of them."

In other Sixers news, CBSSports.com reported that the Rockets could be looking to trade center Omer Asik to Philadelphia as they attempt to clear salary-cap room to sign Dwight Howard.

Hinkie worked for the Rockets the past 8 years. Houston signed Asik to a 3-year, $25.1 million deal last summer.
