Lou Williams approached by gunman

While stopped in his car in Manayunk on Christmas Eve, Sixers guard Lou Williams was approached by a man with a gun. The situation was deflated when the gunman recognized Williams and commended him for his work in the community. Williams said he treated the man to a meal at a local fast food restaurant by giving him some money.
"A guy tried to rob me but decided not to because of whatever I do in the community," said Williams. "He's a Lou Williams fan, so he didn't rob me."
Williams said he was driving in his car when the man approached, knocked on the driver's window and had a gun drawn.
"There's crime everywhere," said Williams. "I was debating whether to pull off to help the guy. The gun was already out. He did all the talking, and we came up with a solution before i could really say much. I treated him to McDonald's."
The Sixers practiced on December 23, had off the next day then flew to Portland on Christmas for Monday's season-opener with the Trail Blazers. Williams pretty much brushed off the incident as he talked in the Sixers' locker room prior to the game.

His first responsibility was to keep himself out of harm, but beyond that, to really help the community he should have tried to get the gun from him, offer him 100 bucks if you have to then turn the gun over to the police. Sidewinder7
What? he should have called the cops! So stupid! scars73
This story does sound fishy. Like someone said, there is no McDonalds in Manyunk. The nearest one is too far to walk. Byron
The headline should read: Sixers star slowly kills man by feeding him at McDonalds

Somehow I don't think Mickie D's was on the gunman's agenda for that evening...Sweet Lou is my favorite Sixer, glad he's alright. bearsfriend
