Jrue Holiday to All-Star weekend

Sixers guard Jrue Holiday will be heading home to Los Angeles to take part in the Rookie Challenge during NBA All-Star weekend.

Holiday was among the players selected to the Sophomore team today that will face the NBA's rookies.

One rookie not selected for the game was the Sixers' Evan Turner, the second overall pick in the draft.

The teams also will have a Philly flavor as reigning Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans, from Ameriacn Christian, is on the sophomore team. San Antonio Spurs guard Gary Neal, who played at one time at LaSalle, is on the rookie team.

The rookie team is led by LA Clippers phenom Blake Griffin, along with Wizards guard John Wall, the top selection in the 2010 NBA Draft; Clippers guard Eric Bledsoe, Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, New Jersey Nets forward Derrick Favors, New York Knicks guard Landry Fields, Minnesota Timberwolves guard Wesley Johnson, Detroit Pistons center Greg Monroe, and Gary Neal.

For the sophomores along with Evans and Holiday, the roster has San Antonio Spurs center DeJuan Blair, Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry, Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan, Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson, Oklahoma City Thunder forward/center Serge Ibaka, Milwaukee Bucks guard Brandon Jennings, and Portland Trail Blazers guard Wesley Matthews.

The game is set for 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18.
