Ivey Officially Signs
Royal Ivey is officially back with the 76ers. The 6-4 guard, who agreed to terms last week, passed his physical examination this afternoon and signed a contract.
The deal is believed to be for one year, for slightly more than the minimum. In Ivey's case, that should bring him within shouting distance of $1 million.
Ivey had opted out of the second leg of his original contract, but remained interested in returning.
"We're very, very happy to be back in Philadelphia,'' said Keith Glass, Ivey's agent. ''When we opted out, it wasn't a reflection on the Sixers, it was a belief than Royal was worth more than the minimum, and that's been born out.''
Ivey appeared in 71 games last season, averaging 3.0 points in 12.1 minutes.
- So with Ivey and Brezec that's 12 guys under contract. Any idea if they are still looking to add a veteran point guard? And if so, any idea who would get left off the 12-man active roster (barring injuries, of course)? I hear there's a 34-year old from Georgetown who is still looking for a team.
- So they got him back when they couldn't get anyone else, wow! BCRock

NEWS-BREAK: "Sixer fans officially don't care" [Note: Phil, not mad at you as I know your just doing your job. Good luck covering this so-called team this season, it's going to be brutal] DennyP
How can you as a player or a professional be satisfied with averaging three points a game? You played 71 games. Hire me I can guarantee you I will average more than 3 points as a guard and play better defense than most of your players on the team now and you won’t have to pay me a million, just pay my house off and I’ll work for free . It would be an honor just to play, I’ll give the fan’s my all every night, I’m a former Dobbins Tech star I know I can do better than what we are getting. Sign me up! rayzoe

I'm glad we locked him up. We've also officially locked up 5th to last place. This team stinks. These names dont ring any kind of bells around the country phillyking22
I say the 76er's should give rayzoe a try out. If they can sign a guy I never heard of averaging 3 points in 12 minutes of play. Since Ed S. is pinching penny, and Rayzoe plays good D and works FREE, whats the problem? xmar
I think Phil actually cracked a smile in his pic. This is the most boring rotten corpse of a team this city has seen for quite some time. Way to go Stefanski! Shenkman3

I don't think you guys watch basketball or understand it. Royal is a point guard, his job is to defend, not score. And he's not a Chauncey Billups type point guard, people. I think Royal was a good point guard last year and I'm happy to see him return. I remember In a game last season Royal scored 4 3-pointers to put us in the lead, So I don't think he's really that bad of a scorer. Don't pay attention to his scoring average, actually watch him and see what he can do. He's a good guy. PhillyOwnzAll
