Heat gets turned on today

The Sixers and the Miami Heat open their first round playoff series today, and Lou Williams is anxious to see how his hamstring will hold up.

Lou Williams will test the sore hamstring today against the Miami Heat. Williams has been out since straining his right hamstring on March 12 against the Milwaukee Bucks. He said that he hasn't played 5-on-5 since the injury, so he'll find out today just how healed he is.

"I'm excited to get the opportunity to get back out there with the guys in an important part of the season. I'll be trying to work the kinks out on the fly. I'm definitely not 100 percent, but functioning and at this point of the season you've got to give it all you've got."

The Sixers will certainly need Williams against the Heat, who beat the Sixers in all three games this season. Williams was the second leading scorer for the Sixers this season against the Heat at 14.3 a game.

Coach Doug Collins is going to monitor Williams closely today.

"I'm hoping that we can get him through that first stretch, maybe six or seven minutes," Collins said. "I'm probably going to have to play him in shorter bursts. I can't let that leg get fatigued."

Stay tuned. Will blog a story after the game.
