Collins third in Sporting News vote

Sixers coach Doug Collins finished third in voting for NBA Coach of the Year by The Sporting News.

Collins received six votes from the panel of 37 general managers, assistant general managers and coaches.

Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau was the winner with 17 votes, followed by the Spurs' Greg Poppovich with 11.

In the official award given by the NBA earlier this week, Thibodeau was the winner, followed by Collins and then Popovich. That voting is done by a group of 199 media members in the U.S. and Canada.
