Brand not all that happy with sub role

Elton Brand let it be known yesterday that he's not happy with role as sub.

After today's practice in Charlotte, coach Eddie Jordan said that forward Elton Brand would continue coming off the bench, something he's done for the past two games after returning from a three-game absence due to a hamstring injury. When asked about it Brand said:

"No, of course not," about accepting his role as a sub. "You never want to come off the bench, a demotion or whatever, after an injury. But you have to do what's best for the team. We're not winning either way, so I'd rather be out there to give us the best chance. You don't accept it. What it is is that I don't feel like I've done anything to merit (not starting)."

Brand said he hasn't talked to Jordan about it and also said his health is not an issue, the hamstring is totally healed. He has played 25 and 28 minutes off the bench the past two games.

"He wants me to play 20 minutes, that's why I'm playing like, 25 minutes the last two games. That's what he wants. I was playing 38-40 minutes and doing well. That's just what it is."

Stay tuned.
