- great pick. this guy is the Sixers' PG of the future. at #17, they couldn't of asked for better.

Jrue is the best pick in years for the Sixers. He will be a star! LGbalsac
I think you have to give them a chance here. They got Speights and Thad with mid first round picks...nobody knew much about either and they were not popular picks. Both came in super young, contributed right away and are still improving. All the experts say that Holiday has a chance to be an impact PG in this league for years. At 17, you have to pick for upside and that's what the Sixers did. jmk1512- Holiday slipped for a reason. Maturity. Sixers never worked him out, so that shows the preparedness of the team. Dileo will say and do whatever Stefanski tells him to. This pick is a mistake. Lawson is much more prepared to be an NBA point guard. Building for the future? We've been doing that since the Barkley trade.... bighrus
And those who say he's a clone of Lou don't know what they're talking about. Holiday is a solid 6-4, possibly still growing, with an incredible wing span. He's also and excellent defender, which Lou is not. Put it this way -- Lou came out of high school and was something like the 45th pick...most say Holiday would have been the first high schooler picked if he'd been able to come out last year, and he was ranked in the top ten this year. No comparison here. jmk1512
If Lawson, Teague and Maynor are so ready to be NBA point guards, why were they picked by the 3 teams with quite possibly the best point guards in the entire league??? To be back-ups...because that's what they are. Holiday may end up as a back-up too, but he has a chance to be a star. jmk1512
Should note that Lawson, while picked by Minnesota, is already ticketed for Denver, where he will back up Billups. jmk1512- JMK, Ill bet you my car, that he will NEVER be a star...I havent heard one person say that he has the potential to be a STAR! bighrus
My mistake on Teague...thought he went to the Hornets. That was Collison. jmk1512
Make, model, year and home phone number, please! I'll call you in 3 years to collect. jmk1512- 2006 Honda S2000...bighrus@comcast.net bighrus
i think holiday sliding caught the sixers off guard....but agree with the sentiment..give me a pure point guard here and not a project.... this is a "safe" pick..they can come out and say 'we cant believe he slid to us.we had to go with the best player on the board".... jim715
Nice. I am picturing myself tooling down the PCH [live in LA] in that sweet ride! BTW, this from former NBA scout and draft consultant Ricky Henne: Measuring in at 6-foot-4, 200-pounds with a 6-foot-7 wingspan, he has the ideal vital statistics you look for in a point guard. Matched with his tremendous athleticism, high basketball IQ, execution at both ends of the court and an unrivaled passion for the game, some are beginning to view him as the top floor general in the draft. And it’s easy to see why. With his height, Holiday overpowers defenders by backing them down and can easily go up to shoot or pass over them. He is also an excellent rebounding guard that isn’t afraid to mix it up, leaving his heart out on the court. Defensively, he can shut down either backcourt position, has quick hands and is a true ball hawk. jmk1512
A "point guard" who can't dribble...what a concept. Idiots! ajfiend
