Ackerman's departure a false rumor, district says

POSTED: Sunday, July 31, 2011, 8:45 AM

I came back to town after a week's vacation to (yet another) rumor that Philadelphia Schools chief Arlene C. Ackerman is leaving the district.  This time, the information was posted on Facebook by radio personality E. Steven Collins. The beleaguered superintendent is out, Collins said.

Not so, says district spokeswoman Shana Kemp.

"That information is not true.  Sounds like a continuation of the rumors that started a little while ago," Kemp said in an e-mail to The Inquirer early this morning.

I'll bring you more information if it becomes available...

Too good to be true. That would be better news than the "debt settlement"!

The next time one of Ackerman's spokespersons tells the truth will be the first time.

haha -- so true! The link was on the front page that read: "District: Ackerman's not leaving"

I looked at it and went, "oh, so she's leaving."

Sorry, Kemp. When the district says they have a "robust" policy on cheating times a thousand other things that make everyone squint at their screen and go, "did they REALLY just say that?!" ....it makes you question everything that's said.

Well. I don't question anymore. I just take the exact opposite as incontrovertible truth because that's a safe bet.

So where did Mr. Collins get his information? I can't imagine he made it up, or his source was the dude that stands in front of the corner store on whatever corner in North Philly.

Oh no, SDP_STAFF, she not only "waited them out" for money, she actually sued for another $172K (nearly 50%) of her severance pay.

Now, we all know she's ___________ (fill in your favorites here) but I NEVER thought the woman that claimed she's all about the children would actually have a lawyer SUE, SUE to take MORE money away.

We all know she'll fight tooth and nail to take 1.5 mil away from the kids without batting an eyelash -- but I wouldn't have actually thought up until a couple of days ago reading these articles on her that she would be capable, after taking the 1.5 and waddling her political tush out of our city that she would actually turn around and SUE the district for more money a year later. That's just -- that's despicable for a human to do. You are getting paid FOR WORK YOU DIDN'T DO.

    It doesn't make sense.

Here's the article if people want to check it out.

there's hundreds. Go to www.sfgate.com (the San Francisco philly.com) & type in Arlene Ackerman. Nothing will pop up in the last 30 days so search the entire archive. You can practically run it parallel with what we've reported the last 3 years. Asian discrimination, union busting, literally YELLING back at parents during school board meetings. Oh, it's UGLY. There are hundreds of articles. Pick and choose your favorites.

Let's say it's true. That's great news !! But then what? Even Jesus himself couldn't fix this mess called the School District of Philadelphia.

What's Ms. Kemp going to say, if It's true I might have to find a job and in this job market? Working for the School District is better than welfare.
